Individuals employed by public transit and the bus industry are in a critical position to recognize and report signs of human trafficking they may be seeing in the course of their everyday jobs.

Human trafficking occurs in the U.S. and Canada when people are subject to forced labor or illegally bought and sold for commercial sex. Trafficking can occur in many locations, including bus terminals, restaurants, hotels/motels, strip clubs, casinos, private homes, truck stops, etc. Moreover, traffickers recruit victims at bus terminals, and often use buses and/or other forms of public transportation to transport their victims.

This course, which will take approximately 30 minutes to complete, features the story of a trafficking survivor who was recruited by her trafficker at a bus stop. It also highlights the steps transit/motorcoach staff can take to play a role in fighting this heinous crime.
